In Jungle Sanctuary, the leaves went swish-swish. Tiny frogs said, “Plip! Plip!”
Jada the jumper was a fairy. She was small. She was kind. She loved to jump. Boing! Boing! Her feet liked to bounce from root to root.
“Good morning, jungle,” Jada said.
A friend zoomed by. Whoosh!
It was Storm Chaser. Storm Chaser was fast and curious. He liked to chase windy clouds and laugh, “Wheee!”
Storm Chaser pointed up. “Jada! Look! The jungle colors are sleepy.”
Jada blinked. The flowers looked pale. The butterflies looked dull.
Jada frowned. “We need the colors back.”
They heard a deep voice near the river of stones.
“I am the Crystal Guardian,” it rumbled.
They peeked. A big shiny crystal stood there, like a tall ice candy. In front of it was the Crystal Guardian, strong and still.
“No colors pass,” the Guardian said.
Storm Chaser whispered, “Maybe the colors are locked inside.”
Jada nodded. She felt a little shy. But she was brave too.
Jada hopped closer. Boing.
“Hello, Crystal Guardian,” Jada said softly. “Please help. The jungle needs its colors.”
The Guardian did not smile. “Only a true helper may open the crystal gate.”
Storm Chaser puffed his cheeks. “We can help! We can run fast!”
The Guardian said, “Speed is not enough.”
Jada looked around. She saw a baby monkey crying. “Eep-eee.” Its toy fruit ball had rolled into a thorny patch.
“Ouchy thorns,” Storm Chaser said.
Jada thought. She did not rush. She used her jumping.
“Watch,” Jada said.
She jumped lightly. Boing! She landed on a safe leaf. Boing! She landed on a smooth rock. Boing! She reached the toy fruit ball without touching the thorns.
She picked it up and jumped back. Boing-boing!
“Here you go,” Jada said.
The monkey hugged the ball. “Eee!” It smiled big.
A little color popped back into the jungle. A red flower woke up. A yellow bird looked brighter.
Storm Chaser clapped. “Jada! You did it!”
The Crystal Guardian watched. “One kind act,” it said.
Then a turtle sighed. It was stuck on its back, legs wiggling.
“Help,” the turtle said.
Storm Chaser wanted to blow a big gust, but he stopped. “Maybe gentle.”
He made a soft wind. Poooof, like a warm breath. The turtle rolled over.
“Thank you,” the turtle said.
More color returned. Green vines shined. Blue wings fluttered.
The Crystal Guardian’s eyes softened. “Two kind acts,” it said.
Jada and Storm Chaser heard a tiny “zzzt.” A firefly’s light was stuck inside a sticky sap drop.
Jada jumped close. Storm Chaser held a leaf like a little plate.
Jada whispered, “Careful.”
She used a petal to dab the sap. The firefly popped free.
“Blink!” the firefly said, and glowed bright.
Now the jungle sparkled. Pink petals, orange sunsets, shiny rain.
The Crystal Guardian stepped aside. “You are true helpers,” it said. “Open the crystal gate.”
The crystal went ding-ding-ding.
A rainbow mist spilled out, like soft paint in the air. It floated into the Jungle Sanctuary.
Everything woke up. Bright birds. Bright flowers. Bright smiles.
A small treasure box appeared at Jada’s feet.
“Gift,” said the Crystal Guardian.
Jada opened it. Inside was a tiny jump-bell for her ankle. When she jumped, it rang, “Ting!”
Storm Chaser got a little wind-whistle. When he blew, it sang, “Tooo!”
Jada giggled. “Ting!”
Storm Chaser giggled. “Tooo!”
They danced and jumped together. Boing-ting! Whoosh-tooo!
And Jungle Sanctuary stayed bright and happy, all day long.
