Princess Kiara Ann was a little mermaid. She was kind and brave. She liked to help.
Today she swam near the Enchanted Forest. Yes, a forest can touch the sea. The trees leaned over the water and whispered.
“Hello, leaves,” Kiara said.
A soft glow bounced on the waves. It blinked. Then it was gone.
Moon Child popped up from behind a lily pad. Moon Child was small and silvery, with big curious eyes.
“Something is missing,” Moon Child whispered. “A star is gone from the night.”
Kiara blinked. “Gone?”
Moon Child nodded. “We must return the missing star.”
From the shore, the Queen called. She was Kiara’s mother. She wore a shell crown and had a warm voice.
“Be careful, my pearl,” the Queen said. “Take a friend.”
An Adventurer stepped from the trees. He had a little pack and a friendly grin.
“I know paths,” he said. “Even in a tricky forest.”
Kiara smiled. “Let’s go.”
They followed a stream into the Enchanted Forest. The water was cool. The trees were tall. Fireflies winked like tiny lanterns.
Kiara heard a clink. “What was that?”
The Adventurer pointed. “Footprints. Shiny ones.”
A bright figure stepped into a sunbeam. It was the Sun Knight. His armor was gold and warm, like noon.
“No star for you,” the Sun Knight said. “Stars belong to the day now!”
Kiara felt a little scared. Then she took a slow breath.
“We share,” she said softly. “Night needs a star.”
The Sun Knight scoffed. “I hid it!”
Moon Child tilted their head. “Where?”
The Sun Knight crossed his arms. “In the Echo Hollow. You cannot reach it.”
The Adventurer whispered, “Echo Hollow is a cave with a fallen log bridge.”
Kiara looked at the stream. She had an idea.
“Follow me,” she said.
They came to the fallen log. It was high. The cave mouth was dark.
Kiara dipped her tail in the water and swished. The water rose like a gentle ribbon.
“Water, make a path,” she said.
A smooth, shining water-bridge formed. It was wide and safe.
Moon Child clapped. “Pretty!”
They crossed. Inside, echoes went “hello… hello… hello…”
In the middle sat a glass jar. Inside twinkled a tiny star, blinking like a sleepy eye.
Kiara whispered, “Hi, little star.”
The jar was too tight.
The Adventurer tried. “Twist… twist… no.”
Moon Child hummed a quiet moon song. “La… la…”
The jar loosened with a soft pop.
The star floated out and spun around Kiara’s face. It felt cool and happy.
Outside, the Sun Knight waited. His shoulders were droopy now.
“I… I wanted it,” he mumbled. “Day feels lonely.”
Kiara swam closer. “You can have something too.”
The Queen arrived at the shore, watching with gentle eyes.
Kiara lifted a pearl from her necklace. It shimmered.
“This is a Sea Pearl,” she said. “It glows in daylight. Keep it.”
The Sun Knight’s face softened. “A treasure… for me?”
“Yes,” said Kiara. “We share the sky.”
He took the pearl carefully. “Thank you. I will not hide stars again.”
That night, Moon Child placed the star back in the sky. The forest looked up. The sea looked up.
A new sparkle danced above Kiara.
The Queen kissed Kiara’s forehead. “You were brave and kind.”
The Adventurer laughed. “And clever with that water bridge!”
Kiara held her own small reward: a tiny star-shaped shell the star left behind, warm and bright.
Kiara hugged it close. “Goodnight, star,” she said.
And the Enchanted Forest whispered, “Goodnight… goodnight… goodnight…”
