Doctor Seuss was a tiny Fairy with a big coat pocket. He was kind and a little shy. When he spoke, his voice was soft: “Hello… hello.”
He lived in the Enchanted Forest. The trees were tall. The moss was squishy. The air smelled like rain and sweet leaves.
One morning, Doctor Seuss woke up and blinked. “Oh no.”
His little bell was gone. Ding-bell! It helped his magic feel brave. Without it, his sparkles felt sleepy.
He looked under a fern. “No bell.”
He looked behind a mushroom. “No bell.”
A gentle splash sounded nearby.
Out of a bright stream rose a Water Nymph. She had hair like flowing water and eyes like blue marbles. She was calm and helpful.
“Hi, Fairy Doctor Seuss,” she said. “You look sad.”
“I lost my bell,” Doctor Seuss whispered.
The Water Nymph nodded. “We will find it. Together.”
They walked on soft roots. They listened.
Drip. Drip.
Tweet. Tweet.
Then—WHOOSH!
A Phoenix swooped over them. Its feathers were red and gold like hot sunset. It was not mean, just loud and bossy. It circled the stream and flapped.
“Shiny thing!” the Phoenix cried. “Mine now!”
Doctor Seuss hid behind the Water Nymph. His wings trembled.
The Water Nymph lifted a hand. “Phoenix, please. That bell belongs to him.”
The Phoenix puffed its chest. “I like shiny. I keep shiny.”
Doctor Seuss swallowed. He felt small. But he wanted his bell.
He took a tiny step forward.
“Phoenix,” he said, still soft, “I can give you another shiny. In my pocket.”
The Phoenix tilted its head. “Another shiny?”
Doctor Seuss reached into his coat. He pulled out a smooth silver pebble that glowed like moonlight. It was his favorite pebble.
The Phoenix’s eyes grew wide. “Oooh.”
The Water Nymph whispered, “Good idea. You are clever.”
Doctor Seuss held the pebble up high. “Trade?”
The Phoenix fluttered closer. It opened its talons.
Clink!
Out dropped the lost bell. It landed on a leaf and made a tiny sound: ding.
Doctor Seuss grabbed it gently. “My bell!”
The Phoenix took the glowing pebble and hugged it. “Shiny for shiny. Fair.”
It flew away, humming happily.
Doctor Seuss put the bell on a string. Ding-ding! The sound made his sparkles wake up.
He looked at the Water Nymph. “Thank you for helping.”
The Water Nymph smiled. “You were brave. Even with a quiet voice.”
Doctor Seuss lifted his bell and tried a small spell.
Ding!
A ring of bright bubbles popped into the air. Inside each bubble was a tiny gift: a star-shaped candy, a little feather, a pebble that smelled like strawberries.
The Water Nymph laughed softly. “A bubble treasure!”
Doctor Seuss smiled big. “For us. For the forest.”
They sat by the stream, sharing the bubble treasures. The Enchanted Forest felt warm and safe, and the bell sang a happy ding-ding-ding.
