Sir Gideon and the Giggle-Gem

Kids stories

In the Enchanted Armory, Sir Gideon the Smile Gazer teams up with a gentle Lion and a minty Sorceress to find the stolen giggle-gem and bring back the sparkle.
Sir Gideon and the Giggle-Gem

In the Enchanted Armory, helmets winked like sleepy stars. Shields hummed soft songs. Swords sat in racks, very still.

Sir Gideon the Smile Gazer was a kind knight. He liked to look for smiles, not fights. He had shiny boots and a gentle voice.

“Hello, Armory,” he said. “Are you happy today?”

A little bell on a spear went ting-ting. It sounded like yes.

A Lion padded in. The Lion was big, but careful. His mane was fluffy like a warm blanket.

“Roar… hello,” said the Lion. He was brave, but also sweet.

A Sorceress stepped from behind a tall suit of armor. She wore a cloak that smelled like mint.

“I’m here to help,” she said. “I can do small magic.”

Sir Gideon smiled. “Small magic is perfect.”

Then—whoosh. The torches in the Armory turned dim and bluish. The shadows grew long.

A Sorcerer appeared in a swirl of dark smoke.

“I took your giggle-gem!” he said. “Now the Armory can’t sparkle!”

Sir Gideon blinked. “The giggle-gem makes the tools feel brave,” he whispered.

The Lion’s ears went down. “No sparkle?”

The Sorceress frowned. “That gem is tiny, but strong.”

Sir Gideon held up his hand. “We will find the lost item. Together.”

They tip-tap walked past a wall of bows. They peeked under a table of mittens for knights. They looked inside a helmet that was snoring.

“Not here,” said the Lion.

“Listen,” said Sir Gideon. He leaned close and used his special skill: smile-gazing. He watched faces, even the faces on masks.

A mask had a painted grin, but its eyes looked worried.

Sir Gideon spoke softly. “Are you hiding something?”

The mask shook. Tap. Tap.

The Sorceress waved her fingers. “Show us, please,” she said.

A little drawer slid open by itself. Inside was a trail of glitter dust.

“Ooo,” said the Lion. “Follow!”

They followed the glitter dust between armor legs and under a cape rack. The dust led to a tall chest with a grumpy lock.

The Sorcerer’s voice echoed, “You can’t open it!”

Sir Gideon knelt. “Hello, Lock. Are you scared?”

The lock wiggled.

The Lion licked the lock. “Warm,” he said, like that helped.

The Sorceress giggled. “I know a gentle spell.” She whispered, “Clickity-kind.”

Click. The chest opened.

Inside was the giggle-gem, glowing like a tiny sun. Next to it were three gold stickers shaped like stars.

Sir Gideon picked up the giggle-gem. It felt happy in his palm.

The Sorcerer popped up, ready to grab it. “Mine!”

Sir Gideon looked at him, calm. He did not shout. He did not swing a sword.

He simply made his biggest, kindest smile.

The Sorcerer froze. His frown slipped, just a little.

The Lion leaned in and purred, very silly for a Lion.

The Sorceress said, “You can have a star sticker if you stop being mean.”

The Sorcerer blinked. A sticker? He loved shiny things.

He sighed. “Fine.” The dark smoke faded into plain air.

Sir Gideon set the giggle-gem back in its spot in the Armory. The torches brightened. Helmets sparkled. Shields sang again.

The Armory went ting-ting-ting, like a happy bell.

Sir Gideon gave one gold star sticker to the Lion. “For brave paws.”

He gave one to the Sorceress. “For gentle magic.”

He kept one for himself. “For smile-gazing.”

And the Sorcerer? He got a star sticker too, because he tried.

They all sat together on a soft pile of cloaks. The Lion yawned. The Sorceress hummed.

Sir Gideon whispered, “In this Armory, we keep tools safe. And we keep hearts safe too.”

The giggle-gem glowed brighter, as if it agreed.
