Princess Kamila and the Amazon Key

Princess Kamila is an Explorer. She is small, brave, and very curious. She wears a light hat and tiny boots. She likes to whisper, “Hello, jungle!”

Today she is in the Amazon. The trees are tall. The air is warm. Birds sing. Water drips: plip, plip.

Princess Kamila holds a little map. “I will find treasure,” she says.

A Pig trots out from behind a big leaf. This Pig is round and pink, with a muddy nose and bright eyes. Pig is silly, but also smart.

“Oink! I help?” asks Pig.

“Yes, please,” says Kamila. “We look together.”

They walk. Step-step. Splash-splash. A blue butterfly flies by.

Pig sniffs the ground. “Sniff-sniff. I smell… shiny!”

They find a rock shaped like a heart. Under it is a small golden key.

Kamila gasps. “A key! For treasure!”

Pig wiggles. “Oink oink! I like keys.”

They follow the map to a vine bridge. It sways. Kamila feels a little scared.

Pig says, “Hold my tail.”

Kamila holds Pig’s curly tail. They cross. Sway-sway. Safe!

On the other side is a dark cave. Inside, it smells like smoke.

A Dragon is there.

The Dragon is big. The Dragon is red. The Dragon has sleepy eyes.

“Grrr,” says the Dragon.

Pig hides behind Kamila.

Kamila takes a slow breath. “Hello, Dragon,” she says softly. “We are Explorers. We do not want to fight. We want treasure.”

The Dragon blinks. “Treasure?” it rumbles.

Pig peeks out. “We have a key,” Pig says, trying to sound brave.

The Dragon sniffs. “That key is mine,” it says. “I lost it. I was sad.”

Kamila’s eyes get kind. “Oh. You lost it. That is hard.”

Pig nods fast. “Losing is yucky,” Pig says.

Kamila holds up the golden key. “We can share. You can help us open the treasure. Then we all get something.”

The Dragon looks surprised. Then it smiles a tiny smile.

“Okay,” says the Dragon. “Follow me.”

The Dragon leads them deeper into the cave. There is a wooden box with a lock.

Kamila puts the key in. Click!

The box opens.

Inside are bright jungle gems: green, blue, and yellow. There are also three tiny crowns made of shining shells.

Pig squeals. “OINK! Crowns!”

Kamila laughs. “One for me, one for Pig, one for Dragon.”

Dragon carefully puts on its shell crown. It looks funny and proud.

Pig spins in circles. “I am Pig Princess!”

Kamila says, “We did it. Together.”

Outside, the Amazon feels friendlier. Birds sing louder.

The Dragon gives Kamila a smooth gem. “For your explorer pouch,” it says.

Kamila hugs the gem. “Thank you, Dragon.”

Pig pats the Dragon’s foot. “Friends?”

“Friends,” says the Dragon.

They walk back under the tall trees, wearing their little crowns, carrying a small bag of gems, and smiling all the way.
