Mileena and the Missing Hat

Mileena is a little witch in a bright village. She is gentle and curious and shy. She wears a soft purple hat each day. She holds her little wand with care. She giggles when magic dust floats around. She loves to help all her friends.

One morning, Mileena lost her dear purple hat. She looked high above rooftops and trees. She looked low through green grass and leaves. She felt a little worry in her heart. She sighed softly, “Hat, where are you now?” She decided to find her hat today.

Nearby lived Princess Lily with bright golden hair. Lily is playful, brave, and always kind. She wore a sparkly gown of pink silk. Lily heard Mileena's soft worried sighs nearby. She skipped to help her friend right away. She smiled wide and held out her hand.

Mileena and Lily walked down the cobblestone path. They asked the baker near the warm oven. They asked the cat napping on the fence. They asked the dog playing by the well. But no one had seen the missing hat. They felt a small spark of hope still.

Tap tap tap across the smooth village stone path. Rustle rustle rustle in the green leafy trees. Swish swish swish the soft breeze felt so gentle.

Suddenly, a dark sorceress entered the village square. She wore a tall black cloak and boots. She had kind eyes but a tricky plan inside. She offered to help find the lost hat. She felt unsure but nodded her head. Lily whispered softly, “Let us watch her.”

The sorceress led them toward the old forest. Trees stood tall with rustle rustle in branches. Birds chirped high above in bright green leaves. Mileena held her wand and took a step. Lily held her hand and stayed close by. Suddenly, the sorceress stopped and laughed a little.

She waved her long fingers and said “Abracadabra.” But instead of magic, nothing bright happened there. The sorceress sighed softly and looked away. She muttered, “I have tricked you today.” Mileena felt her heart beat fast inside. Lily squeezed her hand and gave a nod.

The sorceress ran off toward a mossy clearing. Luna the owl hooted from a low branch. “Hoot hoot,” she said, “Follow her footprints here.” Mileena and Lily tiptoed over soft green moss. Tiny mushrooms glowed with a gentle blue light. Moonlight sparkled on dew drops like little stars.

There on a rock lay the purple hat. Mileena ran and picked it up with joy. She rubbed the soft felt between her fingers. Lily clapped her hands and cheered out loud. The sorceress returned with a shy little smile. She said softly, “Thank you for letting me pretend.”

Mileena forgave her gently and offered a cup of tea. They all sat under a tall oak tree. They drank warm herbal tea from small cups. They ate sweet honey cake with pink icing. They laughed and felt happy together at last. Mileena wore her hat and waved her wand.

They all felt cozy, safe and warm inside. They all felt loved by each other too. They all went home in quiet peace. They slept under the soft starry sky. Good night.
