In the Enchanted Forest, a small knight named Curtis James walked softly. His armor went clink, clink. He was brave, but also gentle. He liked to help little animals. He carried a tiny shield with a star on it.
“Hello, trees,” Curtis said.
The trees whispered, “Hello.”
Curtis James looked around. Something was wrong. The forest colors felt sleepy. The red berries looked dull. The blue flowers looked pale.
“I will fix it,” said Curtis James.
A swirl of wind went whoosh! A person stepped out. They wore a long coat with shiny buttons.
“I am a Time Traveler,” they said. Their voice was kind and bouncy.
Curtis blinked. “Can you help?”
The Time Traveler nodded. “Yes. We must restore colors. The Color Crystal is dim.”
They walked to a mossy path. They heard drip, drip from a silver leaf. They saw a rabbit. The rabbit’s ears drooped.
Curtis kneeled. “Are you okay?”
The rabbit squeaked, “Colors gone.”
Curtis patted the rabbit gently. “We will bring them back.”
Soon they reached a clearing. In the middle stood a tall figure made of shining stone and light.
“I am the Crystal Guardian,” it boomed.
Curtis held his shield close. He did not shout. He used calm words.
“Please,” Curtis said. “We need the Color Crystal to glow.”
The Guardian’s eyes sparkled like ice. “Only a true knight may touch it. Show me care, not fear.”
Curtis took a slow breath. “I can do that.”
The Time Traveler whispered, “Try kindness.”
Curtis looked at the Guardian. “You look lonely,” he said. “Do you stand here all day?”
The Guardian paused. “Yes. I guard. I wait.”
Curtis James walked closer, step by step. Clink, clink. He placed his small shield on the ground.
“I am not here to take,” he said. “I am here to help the forest. And you can help too.”
The Guardian’s voice softened. “I want the forest safe.”
Curtis smiled. “Then we are a team.”
The Time Traveler pulled out a little hourglass. Sand glittered inside.
“I can give one tiny time-twist,” they said. “Just one.”
Curtis thought hard. “Twist time so the crystal remembers its bright colors,” he said.
“Good idea,” said the Time Traveler.
They turned the hourglass. Ting! The air hummed.
The Crystal Guardian lifted a hand. In its palm sat the Color Crystal, dull and gray.
Curtis reached out with both hands, slow and careful.
“I will be gentle,” he said.
He touched the crystal. It felt cool, like morning dew. Curtis closed his eyes.
He remembered red apples, green grass, blue skies, yellow sunshine.
The crystal blinked.
Then it glowed.
Red! Blue! Green! Gold!
The clearing filled with bright light. The flowers woke up. The berries shined. Even the rabbit hopped and wiggled.
The Crystal Guardian laughed, a deep friendly rumble. “You did it, little knight.”
Curtis James grinned. “We did it!”
The Guardian opened a secret stone box. Inside were tiny crystal coins that sparkled like rainbow candy.
“A reward for a kind knight,” said the Guardian.
The Time Traveler clapped. “And a gift for the forest!”
Curtis took one coin and gave it to the rabbit.
The rabbit squeaked, happy.
Curtis kept one coin for himself. He tucked it in his pocket.
It made a soft jing, jing.
Back on the path, Curtis James waved.
“Bye, Enchanted Forest,” he said.
The trees whispered, “Bye, brave and gentle knight.”
Curtis walked home, clink, clink, with a shining coin and a brighter forest behind him.
